What does… a Night Auditor actually do?

The night auditor or night porter takes care of all reception and other work that arises during the night hours between 10 pm and 6 am.
They are the general point of contact for employees and guests during the night, answer telephone calls and take care of check-in and check-out for guests arriving late or departing early. He checks the accounts of the bars and restaurants and prepares the daily closing, enters guest information into the system and informs the early shift about arrivals and departures, guest questions, etc. He/she monitors all hotel areas for safety, cleanliness and night’s rest, wakes up guests and may also help prepare breakfast.

Requirements for working as a night auditor
Night auditors usually work in the upscale hotel industry. Hotel-specific or commercial training is a good prerequisite, but not always essential for this job. Knowledge of hotel accounting and cash accounting as well as the various hotel systems such as Amadeus, Protel, Opera etc. are of course an advantage. Very important are good German and foreign language skills, a well-groomed, friendly and competent appearance as well as a sense of responsibility and discretion.
