Have you always wanted to work in service?
Yes, I always wanted to work in service. I trained at the hotel academy in
Kežmarok, Slovak Republic, and then worked in various upmarket hotels.
Where/what did you learn or work before?
I studied at the hotel academy in Kežmarok and previously worked in various hotels in Switzerland, Austria and the Slovak Republic, including the Hotel Thessoni Zurich and the Grand Hotel and the Grand Hotel Bellevue in the High Tatras.
What is your next career goal?
My next career goal is to become a restaurant manager and take on more responsibility in management.
What are your typical tasks? What does your normal working day look like?
My typical tasks include working at the bar, where I take orders, help prepare cocktails, serve them and look after the guests. A normal working day starts with preparing the bar, followed by looking after guests during service and ends with tidying up and preparing for the next day.
What do you particularly like about your job?
I particularly like the direct contact with the guests and the opportunity to make their stay unforgettable. I also appreciate the teamwork and the dynamic working environment.
What are the challenges for you?
The biggest challenges for me are in stressful situations, when the restaurant is full and every guest expects perfect service. It’s important to stay calm and keep an overview.

You need to be friendly and communicative, be able to work well in a team and respond flexibly to guests’ needs. Good knowledge of food and beverages is also important, as are a high level of resilience and stress resistance.
What is your favourite thing to do in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy the outdoors, playing sport and spending time with friends and family.
