YourGstaad introduces: Fabio, Casserolier
Thank you, Fabio, for this interview! How long have you been here and where do you work?
I came to Switzerland six years ago and have been working as a casserolier at the HUUS Gstaad Hotel ever since.
How did you come to work as a casserolier? Do you want to stick with it and make a career in the kitchen?
I got this job through a friend who was already working here. I would like to stay in the kitchen and have already taken on a lot of additional responsibility in my area of work over the six years.
What are your typical tasks? What does a normal working day look like for you?
My typical working day starts at 8 a.m. when I take care of the breakfast buffet. After that, I take care of the crockery and clean the staff canteen. I take a break from 1 a.m. to 6 p.m., then I come back for the evening service in the à la carte restaurant.
What do you like about your job? What do you like less?
I like working in a team and get on very well with the whole kitchen brigade. What I don’t like so much? Processing fish for fish & chips 🙂
What personal requirements do you need for your job?
You need to have a good attitude and do your job with conviction and motivation.
What’s your favourite thing to do in your free time?
I like to hang out with my friends, have a beer or two with them and then, of course, I’m a Benfica Lisbon fan!
Do you like being in Gstaad and do you have any tips for people who are new to Gstaad for work?
Yes, I really like being in Gstaad! I would tell new people that all that glitters is not gold here and that you should be adaptable.
Thank you, Fabio!
